Dear Democracy Defenders,

We’re reaching the final weeks of a challenging year. Yet it seems as though wherever we look, there are stories of hope, humor, and grassroots power.

One article that made us smile: Activists with the National Day Labor Organizing Network staged a “buy-in” at a Home Depot in Monrovia, California. To protest the hardware giant, 100 protesters walked into the store and each purchased a 99-cent ice scraper. A half hour later, 100 people returned the ice scrapers.

Closer to home, about 120 people in Milwaukee braved the bitter cold this past Friday to protest ICE’s presence at the Milwaukee School of Engineering. (ICE holds the lease on a building owned by MSOE; MSOE currently has little legal recourse to remove them). WDDP is proud to be part of this growing coalition of Wisconsin-area organizations committed to keeping ICE out of Wisconsin.

Whether it’s joining a local coalition, showing up to protests, supporting grassroots organizations, or finding creative ways to make your voice heard, every action matters.

Read on to see how we’re finishing out this year strong.

In solidarity,

WDDP Leadership
