Dear Democracy Defenders,
We did not hope to begin the new year this way. As you likely know, the Trump administration has taken action to advance its authoritarian agenda by attacking Venezuela. This unlawful assault resulted in the capture of Venezuelan President Maduro, the death of dozens of people, and injuries to numerous service members. These actions occurred without Congressional authorization and without a clear plan for a peaceful transition in Venezuelan leadership.
This is just one more sign of fascism in our country.
We remain committed to fighting for freedom and democracy. In 2026, we plan to double down on our efforts to fight fascism and to secure the future of our democracy, confident in our collective ability to make a difference.
Join us at our first member meeting of the year, this Sunday, January 11, from 1 pm to 3 pm. At the meeting, we will host a listening session with Ryan Sendelbach, the new chair of the Dane County Dems, and discuss how WDDP members can take action through our new Signs of Fascism initiative.
In solidarity,
WDDP Leadership
