Who We Are
The Western Dane Democracy Project (WDDP) is an all-volunteer organization that was founded in February 2025. We are an independent local chapter of Indivisible, working to build grassroots power and broad pro-democracy coalitions across Dane County. Through monthly meetings, action teams, and community partnerships, we focus on local organizing that creates statewide and national impact.
Our Mission
To strengthen our democracy by cultivating civic engagement, upholding constitutional principles, and defending our freedoms, our communities, and our futures from authoritarianism.
Our Vision
An inclusive, equitable, and accountable democracy built on an active and empowered citizenry—where every voice is valued equally, for generations to come, no exceptions.
Our Values

Non-Violence
We are unequivocally committed to nonviolence in both words and actions. As political rhetoric grows more inflammatory and political violence escalates, we believe that nonviolent resistance remains our most powerful force against threats to democracy.

Democracy for All
We believe in a multiracial, inclusive democracy—one where everyone has equal rights and equal power, no matter where they live or what they look like. That’s the America we’re fighting for.

Community
We believe power flows from interpersonal connections and trust. Everyone is welcome in our movement as we work to strengthen our local community and extend care and compassion to those targeted by this administration.

Hope
We maintain unwavering hope that our strategies will succeed, even against overwhelming odds. Because hope drives engagement and action, we seek to kindle that same hope in others who feel fearful, angry, or despairing in this political moment.

Accountability
We believe accountability flows both up to power and out to community. Democracy works when we all take responsibility—leaders answer to citizens, and we answer to each other, especially those most affected by our actions.
