Help us keep the WDDP website current! Main tasks will involve adding to our resource library, posting the weekly newsletter, and adding/updating content as needed.

Estimated time commitment: 1-2 hours per week (flexible, ongoing)

Desired skills: Prior experience with WordPress and/or Divi.

Note: if you have a significant amount of web design experience, we’d love to hear from you as well! Depending on your skill level and availability, this position could involve more in-depth web design.

Weekly newsletter

We need people interested in contributing text to our weekly newsletter (ca 150-250 words).

Estimated time commitment: this can be a one-time contribution or a regular role. Text is due Sunday evenings.

New member welcome and onboarding

This team is responsible for creating a warm, informative first experience for new members joining our organization. The team welcomes new members both via email and in-person at meetings, provides information about ways to get connected and involved with WDDP, answers questions about the organization, and vets new members to ensure alignment with our community values. The committee ensures that every new member feels valued, informed, and connected from day one, helping to build strong engagement and long-term retention.

Meeting refreshments

Help us ensure that WDDP attendees are hydrated, nourished, and caffeinated at our monthly meetings! We’re looking for 1-2 people to purchase snacks, prepare coffee, set up food, and/or coordinate recurring signups for individual members to contribute food or baked goods. We have a small budget for meeting refreshments and can reimburse.

Estimated time commitment: 1-2 hours per month; you would commit to organizing refreshments for all monthly meetings and/or finding substitutes if you are unavailable.

Signs of Fascism

As we discussed during our January meeting, WDDP is launching Signs of Fascism, a visibility campaign that aims to raise awareness of the signs of fascism in our country and inspire action to protect democracy. We are looking for people to take on the following roles:

• Initiative co-captains: Oversee the various moving parts of the initiative, including setting up meetings, recruiting and supporting volunteers, communicate with volunteers, and making sure the work gets done. (Estimated time commitment: 2-4 hours per week)
• Team member: Location and time research (Estimated time commitment: 2-4 hours total)
• Team member: Design and print signs (Estimated time commitment: 4-6 hours total)
• Team member: Attend Signs of Fascism events (and help recruit others to do so)

Tabling Team

The WDDP Tabling Team is present at local markets and events. The purpose of the team is to have 1:1 conversations with people about democracy and the issues that matter to them, and provide them with opportunities to take action. We’re looking for people to take on the following roles:

• Initiative co-captain: Research locations, ensure that WDDP has the proper permits, coordinate volunteer sign-ups (estimated time commitment: 1-2 hours per week)
• Create content, design, and print literature for tables
  • This can be done by several people (e.g., one person to create text, another to take over design and printing)
  • WDDP can reimburse printing costs
  • Estimated time commitment will vary: you could spend a few hours on a single amazing flier, or you could be our go-to graphic designer
• Maintain tabling kit/supplies, ensure that we re-order materials when we run out, coordinate pickup/dropoff of kit with tabling volunteers (small time commitment, big impact!)

Community builders

One of WDDP’s core values is that of community: we believe that our power comes from personal connection and support. Our community building team plays a key role within WDDP by helping members build trust and get to know one another. We’re looking for people to join the team to help with the following:

• Planning and organizing small- and large-scale events (e.g., WDDP socials, service opportunities, drop-in coffees): work can include researching venues, ordering food, etc.
• Hosting informal gatherings (e.g., film screenings, book clubs, watching online trainings together, etc.)

Time commitment will vary—the more, the merrier!
